How does the Tread Blaster clean shoes so well?
The high force concentrating nozzles do the cleaning. The unique criss-cross manner in which the nozzles are mounted, coupled with the side "towers", prevent any significant overspraying from occurring which would make your leg, shoe tops, or clothes wet.

How long does it take to clean a shoe?
That depends on how dirty the shoe is, and how dry the mud is. Most shoes, even an extremely dirty one, can be cleaned in 5-10 seconds.

How do I use the Tread Blaster?
Position your one foot so it is ready to move forward across the cleaning area between the two towers, and position your other foot beside the corresponding tower and outside of the cleaning area. With the water pressure activated, move your foot forward through the cleaning area keeping it over to one side so that the sole edge is being cleaned as well as the bottom of the shoe. Then, bring your foot back through the machine on the other side of the cleaning area, so the other side of the sole is cleaned too. Then repeat with the other foot.

What kind of input does the Tread Blaster need?
Electricity is not required. You just need a garden hose hookup with 30 - 60 psi. If exceptionally high pressures are present (70 psi or more), then an optional pressure reducer valve can be ordered. The inlet fitting is a 3/4 NH garden hose female swivel. The units have a spring-loaded on-off valve built in to prevent water from being wasted by a valve left in the on position.

What kind of maintenance is required?
There is very little maintenance required. After several years, depending on usage, a new spray nozzle assembly or on-off valve may by required.

Does the unit need bolting down?
Yes, the unit should always be fastened securely to a solid level surface such as concrete. A mounting plate is provided.

How much water does it use?
Typically the Tread Blaster will use 1 quart per shoe, depending on the speed of the operator. This is much less than other methods of cleaning muddy shoes. The cost of this water is less than 1/4 cent per user. Also, the water is not wasted as the drain line can discharge onto grass or a flower bed.

Can the water drain be directed away from the unit?
The water can be directed away from the unit by simply attaching a 1 1/2" diameter flexible hose to the drain.

What if freezing temperatures occur when using outdoors?
The valve and plumbing of the Tread Blaster can handle some freezing temperatures without being damaged. But as with all garden hose products, the garden hose supply line, where it connects to your water system, may cause damage to a water spigot if freezing occurs. To be safe, disconnect the feed hose if freezing weather is expected. After the feed hose is disconnected, opening and closing the Tread Blaster valve once or twice will help insure the valve is drained out so no freeze damage occurs.

What is the warranty on the Tread Blaster?
The Tread Blaster has a one year limited warranty. See the warranty statement for more information.

How long will the Tread Blaster last?
It should last for many years. There are very few parts to wear out.
